Mastercard is making a move into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
In a blog post yesterday, June 9, the company announced a partnership with several of the biggest NFT providers, including Immutable X, Mintable, Nifty, and The Sandbox.
Users will now be able to shop for NFTs with their Mastercard credit card on these platforms, without having to purchase crypto beforehand.
"With 2.9 billion Mastercard cards worldwide, this change could have a big impact on the NFT ecosystem," the company writes.
Mastercard has already filed for around 15 crypto patents and trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office back in April of this year.
It is also making its services available to the Coinbase NFT marketplace.
In February of this year, it posted job listings for crypto positions.
